What it is

JSON-LD is a small script containing labelled facts: your business name, address, phone, opening hours and so on. Visitors don't see it; search engines do.

What a local business should include

Name, address and phone exactly as they appear on your Google Business Profile, your website URL, opening hours, a logo or photo, and price range. Consistency across your site, profile and directories matters more than completeness.

Generate and install

Choose Local business in the Schema Markup Generator, fill in the form and copy the script. Paste it into the head of your homepage or contact page. In WordPress, an SEO plugin or a 'header scripts' plugin does this without editing theme files.

FAQ and article schema

FAQ schema marks up questions and answers that are visible on the page. Article schema identifies the author and publish date of a blog post. Only mark up what is really on the page.

Test it

Paste the page URL into Google's Rich Results Test. Fix any errors it reports, then request indexing in Search Console.
