Why Are My Emails Going to Spam? Check Blacklists and Fix It

When customers stop getting your emails, the cause is usually a blacklist listing or missing email authentication. Both are fixable.

1. Check blacklists

Enter your domain in the Blacklist Checker – it checks your server IP and domain against major lists like Spamhaus, SpamCop and Barracuda.

2. Check authentication

Missing SPF, DKIM or DMARC is now the most common reason legitimate mail goes to spam – Gmail and Yahoo require them for bulk senders. Check with the Email Spoofing Checker.

3. If you're listed

Find the cause first: a hacked website or WordPress plugin sending spam, an infected office PC, a compromised mailbox, or mailing an old purchased list. Fix it, then request removal on each list's website.

4. Protect your reputation

Send marketing email from a dedicated service (not your personal mailbox), remove bounced addresses, and make unsubscribing easy.

Frequently asked questions

How long does delisting take?

From minutes to a few days, depending on the list.

Does shared hosting affect me?

Yes – another customer on the same IP can get it listed.

What does 'could not check' mean?

Some lists block shared lookups; it isn't a listing.
