How to Change the Font in Your Instagram Bio (Bold, Italic & More)

Instagram doesn’t let you change fonts, yet you see bold and script bios everywhere. The trick is special Unicode characters that look like styled letters.

How to do it

Type your text into the Fancy Text Generator, pick a style (bold, italic, script, double-struck and more), click Copy and paste it into your bio, caption or display name. It works the same on TikTok, X and LinkedIn.

How it works

These aren't real fonts. They're letters from Unicode's mathematical and symbol ranges that happen to look styled, so they keep their look anywhere you paste them.

Use it sparingly

Screen readers may read fancy letters one by one or skip them, and Instagram search can't match them. Use them for a word or two – like your role or a call to action – not your whole bio.

Keep your name searchable

Leave your username and the name field in normal text so people can find you.

Frequently asked questions

Why do some letters show as boxes?

Older phones may lack those characters – bold and italic are the most widely supported.

Can I use it in my username?

No – usernames only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores.

Is it allowed?

Yes, it's just text.
