Why Your Link Preview Looks Wrong on Facebook, LinkedIn or WhatsApp

When you share a link, platforms read Open Graph tags to build the preview card. Missing or wrong tags mean no image, the wrong title, or an old version.

Check what platforms see

Enter the page URL in the Social Preview Checker to see the card preview and which og: and twitter: tags are set or missing.

The tags that matter

og:title, og:description, og:image (1200 × 630 px, under 5 MB, absolute https URL), og:url, and twitter:card set to summary_large_image for the big image layout on X.

Fixing them

On WordPress, Yoast or Rank Math let you set the social title, description and image per page. Shopify and Squarespace have social sharing image settings. Otherwise add the meta tags in the page <head>.

Refresh the old preview

Platforms cache previews. Use Facebook's Sharing Debugger ('Scrape Again') and LinkedIn's Post Inspector to refresh; WhatsApp and X update after their caches expire.
