Titles

Keep titles under about 60 characters so they aren't cut off. Lead with what the page is about, add a reason to choose you, and finish with your brand.

A formula that works for local businesses: Service in Town – Benefit | Brand. For example: Emergency Plumber in Denver – 24/7, 60-Minute Arrival | Acme Plumbing.

Descriptions

Aim for 110-160 characters. Say what the visitor gets, add proof (years, reviews, guarantee) and end with an action: call, book, get a quote.

Write a unique description for every important page. Duplicates are a wasted opportunity.

Preview before you publish

Type both into the Meta Tag Generator to see character counts and a live Google preview, then copy the tags – including Open Graph tags so the page looks right when shared on WhatsApp or Facebook.

Mistakes to avoid

Keyword stuffing, titles that are just the business name, the same title on every page, and descriptions that are cut-off first sentences.
