Image to Text (OCR)

Extract text from photos, screenshots and scans.

Turn text in a photo, screenshot or scan into editable text you can copy – in English and 9 other languages.

🔒 Text recognition runs on your device. Your image is never uploaded (only the language data is downloaded once).

How to use the image to text (ocr)

  1. Choose the language of the text.
  2. Drop in an image, screenshot or scanned page.
  3. Copy the recognised text and check it for small errors.

Tips for best results

Use a sharp, well-lit image where the text is straight and at least 20 pixels tall. Crop away everything except the text area. Printed text works much better than handwriting.
